Gemmy International is staffed by GIA trained Graduate Gemologists. We have a complete range of Instrumentation to perform most gem ID's. Gem Identification is a major aspect of our core skill set. We are able to provide positive identifications for most unmounted or mounted gemstones. Logically, it is less difficult to ID a loose gem versus one in a mounting. Ultimately, 90% percent of gems are conclusively separated from similar materials by inspection of internal inclusions or growth characteristics under high magnification. There are certain gems which require additional testing with specialized ultra-sensitive spectragraphic instruments. In these case the items are shipped insured and registered to labs in either Southern California or New York that can afford these high-end instruments.
